About resum8

resum8 was built during a job search. Not as a startup idea — as a solution to a real problem.

When I was made redundant, I did what most people do: updated my CV, started applying, and waited. The responses were sparse. The experience was common. What I did not immediately understand was that most applications were being filtered out automatically before any human ever looked at them — not because my experience was wrong for the roles, but because my CV was not matching what the screening systems were looking for in each specific job description.

I started using AI to fix this. First to clean up formatting. Then to actually rewrite sections to match each role. That helped – but it was slow and manual, and I was doing the same cycle of adjustments for every application. So I built two agents. The first tailored the CV to the job description. The second acted as a validator – scoring the output against ATS criteria, identifying what to improve, and feeding that back to the first agent. The loop ran until the score stopped improving. The result was an AI generated CV adapted specifically for each role, automatically.

I shared it with a group of friends who were in the same situation at the same time. They found it useful. They encouraged me to make it a proper tool. So I did.

What resum8 does

The core of resum8 is the tailoring and validation loop – the same two-agent process I built for my own job search. You provide your experience and the job description you are applying for. resum8 generates a CV tailored to that role, evaluates it for ATS compatibility, and iterates until the result is the best version it can produce. You receive that version. You do not see the intermediate scores or iterations – just the output.

From there, resum8 also helps with:

Cover letters

Generated specifically for the job description, in English or German, with the conventions appropriate for each market.

Interview preparation

A short personal introduction tailored to your background, example questions and answers to help calibrate how much detail to go into, and a reminder to prepare questions for the interviewer.

Job application tracking

A simple dashboard for keeping track of where you have applied, what stage each application is at, and what needs following up. When you are managing many applications at once, having a job application tracking system in the same place as your CV tool removes a lot of friction.

German-language CVs

Adapted for the Swiss and German job markets, not just translated. The professional profile (Berufsprofil) and work experience (Berufserfahrung) sections are written in formal German business register, structured the way German and Swiss employers actually expect.

Built for job seekers. Only for job seekers.

resum8 is not an applicant tracking system for recruiters. It is not an HR tool. It does not help companies screen candidates. It is entirely on the side of the person applying – because that is who I was when I built it, and that is the only perspective that has ever shaped it.

Your data is yours.

The information you add to resum8 – your experience, your CV, your applications – belongs to you. It is not used to train models, sold to third parties, or shared with employers. Tracking jobs and managing applications requires trust, and that trust depends on knowing your data stays private.

The free tier is real.

All core features are available without a payment method. There is a 24-hour cooldown between uses on the free tier, because the underlying AI operations have a real cost – but the intention is that you can generate a properly tailored CV and test the tool before deciding whether to pay for anything. A job search is already expensive enough.

Based in the United Kingdom

resum8 is based in the UK, with specific support for the German and Swiss job markets built in from early on – because that is what the people I originally shared it with needed.

The CV conventions, language register, and application norms differ significantly between the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. resum8 handles those differences rather than applying a single template everywhere.

A note on how this started

This was not a product that was planned. It was a tool I built to solve my own problem, shared with people I knew who had the same problem, and turned into something public because they found it useful enough to ask for it.

That origin still shapes how resum8 is built – focused on what actually helps in a job search, without features added for their own sake. If you have feedback on what works or what is missing, I genuinely want to hear it.
